I just got word that my music video for “LET ME BE” will finally be completed TODAY.

My song “LET ME BE” was my answer to the people who came after me—especially those who demanded that I prove my worth, questioned my authenticity, challenged my right to be heard and seen, or acted as though I needed to earn the right to be who I am.

My answer was and is simple:

I don’t have to prove my worth to anyone.

I know who I am. I know what I’ve survived. I know what I’ve created. And I know how much of myself I have poured into my art, my music, and my life.

Music and art have always given me a way to speak when words weren’t enough. “LET ME BE” became the voice of that realization—the moment when you stop explaining yourself and start standing firmly in your own truth.

This music video is more than a visual companion to a song. It represents freedom. Self-worth. Authenticity. And the decision to stop allowing other people’s expectations, judgments, or demands to define you.

There have been delays, frustrations, and a lot of waiting to finally see this vision come together. But today, that waiting finally comes to an end.

The song is mine. The vision is mine. The story is mine.

And to anyone who ever demanded that I prove my worth:

I don’t need your permission.
I don’t need your approval.
I simply need to be me.

SANTA FE JESUS

I first conceived this piece during one of my many visits to treatment centers throughout my adult life. At a time when I was searching for recovery, trying to understand myself, and desperately looking for a way forward, art became the language I could use when words failed me.

Art has always been one of the places where I heal. It gives shape to things I cannot always explain. It allows me to take pain, confusion, addiction, and suffering—and somehow make something tangible from them.

The difficult truth is that I eventually fell back into the grip of addiction after leaving this particular facility. The healing I experienced there wasn’t permanent. But something stayed with me.

This piece.

SANTA FE JESUS became a tangible fragment of a moment when I was trying to save myself.

And perhaps that is what makes it so profound to me. Recovery isn’t always a straight line. Sometimes we fall. Sometimes we lose our way. Sometimes the thing we create while we’re healing becomes the evidence that, even for a moment, we believed we could be whole.

Years later, I can look at the reimagining of that work through my signature Symbolic Pop Art Expressionism style and see more than an image. I see a version of myself who was searching, hurting, creating, and still holding onto hope.

Art didn’t magically save me.

But it did give me a voice when I didn’t have one—and sometimes, that was enough to just keep the light on.

Over the last four or five months, I’ve had more than a few people do their best to provoke me and pull me into their drama.

And honestly, I’ve learned something about myself through all of it.

Today, as I celebrate my 2 year 3 month sobriety anniversary, I’m aware of how I’m so deeply centered in who I am, my sobriety, my growth, my work, and the life I have fought incredibly hard to build that, even when something hurts, I will never be provoke to react with an unkind response.

Of course, I vent to my husband every now and then. 😂 But even that is usually less about anger and more about trying to understand the psychology behind why people behave the way they do.

I simply have no desire to engage with people or situations that don’t match my energy.

And perhaps the most interesting part of it all is realizing that my mere presence can apparently cause such a stir in people.

I don’t say that with arrogance. I say it with curiosity.

Because I’ve spent so much of my life surviving, fighting, and trying to be understood.

Now, I just choose something different.

I choose sobriety, peace, growth, kindness, and most importantly, I choose me and the work.

And there is nothing more powerful than realizing you no longer have to respond to everything that tries to pull you away from yourself and your work.

You can just be. Free. 🩷🤟🏽🏳️‍🌈

There’s something really special about creating something for the first time with someone you’ve been creating with for years.

My photographer and I have worked together for a long time, but this is our first music video — and what an experience it has been. 🎥✨

The process is tedious. All-consuming. There are so many little details, so many takes, so much time and energy that goes into bringing a vision to life.

We’re talking vocal shots, long shots, close-ups, movement, B-roll, different angles, different performances, different lighting, different locations — and doing it all over and over again until we get the shot.

And then there’s post-production. Going through all that footage, choosing the right takes, cutting everything together, syncing it perfectly to the song, shaping the pacing, transitions, color, effects and all those tiny details that ultimately make the video feel like a complete piece of art. That part is a whole other creative process in itself.

But we’re getting it done. And I get more excited about it every single day.

I can’t wait to finally fuckin share what we’ve been creating. 🩷🏳️‍🌈💯

I rarely show my work in progress. It’s too scary for me.

It just feels so vulnerable letting people see the work before it’s finished—before it’s polished, before it’s perfect, before it has fully become the thing I can see so clearly in my head.

But I’m stepping out of my comfort zone, here’s a little glimpse of what I’m working on.

I’m beginning a new series inspired by the iconic hotels of Beverly Hills. I’m not even sure yet how many pieces will be in the series. I’m letting that part reveal itself as I work.

The real challenge for me is taking these places that are already so iconic and making each piece unmistakably mine.

This is still evolving. Still being figured out. And still a little messy.

The finished piece is somewhere in my head. I’m just working my way toward it.

Once I’m finished here, it’ll become an archival pigment Giclee on canvas, then I’ll come back to it with my hand again and create hand painted acrylic embellishments throughout the piece.

My process is unique and has literally taken years to cultivate it so I am now able to get the art I have swirling around in this crazy brain of mine out into the world.

Symbolic Pop Art Expressionism kinda says it all. It’s my thing and I’m having a fuckin epic ball creating my art.

For so long I believed I had to shrink myself to make other people comfortable. Softer. Quieter. Less gay. Less sexual. Less me.

Not anymore.

Being a sexual gay man isn’t something I hide or apologize for. It’s part of my joy, my freedom, my creativity, and my humanity. There is nothing shameful about embracing your body, your desire, your confidence, or your truth.

This video is my reminder—to myself and to anyone who needs to hear it—that the most powerful thing you can wear is your authentic sexuality.

Take up space. Turn up the volume. Be seen.

And if that makes someone uncomfortable… maybe they weren’t meant to understand your light.

My wall makeover feels real.

At the center is a portrait that renowned artist Marc Greenblum painted of me when I was just 18 years old. If you could see the original photograph he took, you’d realize this painting is only a small part of it. I was standing nude on a rock in Malibu, wrapped in wet cheesecloth. It was fearless, vulnerable, and full of naive sexuality.

Now, more than 30 years later, that painting hangs beside my self-portrait of who I am today.

That contrast is stopping me every time I walk by.

Surrounding them is my own artwork—pieces that tell a story. The vastness of what’s between those two versions of me. The joy. The addiction. The grief. The healing. The music. The art. The recovery. The life I fought so hard to keep.

This wall isn’t really about honoring the person I used to be.

It’s about celebrating the person I became against all odds.

If I’m being completely honest, writing this makes me really emotional. There were so many years I wasn’t sure I’d even survive. Yet somehow, here I am—healthier, happier, sober, creating every day, making music, making art, and building a life that finally feels authentic.

I look at this wall and I don’t just see artwork.

I see proof that healing is possible.

I see how sobriety changed me.

I see gratitude.

I see a life I never thought I’d get to live.

One of the most personal songs I’ve ever written is officially released out into the world.

Before there was a recording, before there was a cover, before there was a finished song… there were simply words on a page.

This song was born during a time when people were coming at me demanding that I prove myself to them. My talent. My worth. My authenticity.

For a while, I thought maybe I owed people an explanation.

Then I realized something…

Stepping outside my comfort zone has been surprisingly fun.

I’m used to creating my signature 30 × 40 works, so working on these smaller pieces has challenged me to think differently. Each one begins with a hand-drawn sketch before moving through my creative process, staying true to my Symbolic Pop Art Expressionism style.

There’s something about sitting on the floor surrounded by paint that feels like home. Being down on the ground creating has always been one of my happiest places—it’s where I lose track of time and become completely immersed in the work.

These are produced as archival giclée canvas prints, then finished with meaningful hand-painted embellishments and hand-painted sides, making every piece uniquely its own.

It’s been a reminder that growth often comes from trying something different—and I’m really enjoying the process.

This coin in my hand is one of my most treasured possessions. To most people it may look like a simple token, but to me it represents life, hope, and the promise I make to myself every single day. Its unique shape carries a powerful reminder—the flat edge symbolizes that sobriety is never “finished.” There is no final destination. Recovery is a lifelong journey that must be cultivated, protected, and chosen one day at a time. Every sunrise is another opportunity to honor that commitment.

Two years ago today, I walked out the doors of The Betty Ford Center a completely different man. But I didn’t walk out alone, I walked out with a friend that I considered a brother. I’ve been connected to him for more than two years and we communicate weekly. He’s a brilliant guy and I’m grateful for him in my life.

My sobriety is something I’m fiercely protective of and incredibly proud of. My time in the desert didn’t just change my life—it saved it. To say my stay at Betty Ford was life-changing is a gross understatement. There simply aren’t words big enough to express what that place means to me.

It’s beyond anything I could have imagined that they’ve invited me back next month as their featured guest speaker. I’m deeply honored, grateful, and humbled to return to that sacred ground and stand at the very podium where Betty Ford herself often spoke in the iconic James West Auditorium.

I’m even grateful for the people who have been the most difficult in my life. They’ve challenged me to choose kindness over bitterness, compassion over resentment, and understanding over judgment. Those lessons have shaped me just as deeply as the joyful ones.

There was a time when getting into a recording studio felt like trying to break through a fortress.

As a kid living in New York City, I fought for every opportunity to be heard. I sat in offices with managers, record executives, and industry legends like Walter Yetnikoff, believing that if someone would just say “yes,” maybe my voice would finally matter. Looking back, I realize I wasn’t just chasing a record deal—I was fighting for my life. Fighting to be seen. Fighting to be heard. Fighting to believe there was room for someone like me.

And it almost killed me… literally!

Decades later, I’m back in the studios, but everything has changed.

I don’t need permission anymore.

I don’t have to wait for a manager to make a phone call or a record executive to decide if I’m worthy. I don’t have to compromise who I am, reshape my art, or become a version of myself someone else thinks is marketable.

Now I simply walk into a studio with incredibly talented people, lay down my tracks, and release them into the world exactly how I want, when I want.

I’m the executive producer of my own life now.

That might be the greatest gift technology has given artists. It has shifted the power back into the hands of the creators. The gatekeepers no longer own the gates.

After everything I’ve lived through, this room isn’t just a recording studio.

It’s freedom.

And that feels better than any record deal ever could.

People have seen the art.

Very few know the story that created it.

Yesterday, I received truly one of the greatest most unexpected honors of my life.

A letter arrived from Graceland on official Graceland stationery, embossed with a seal that reads “Signature Elvis Presley Product,” the letter confirming that my artwork, THE KING — Elvis Presley, has officially become part of Graceland’s permanent archive collection.

It was an extraordinary moment.

But it also opened a door I wasn’t expecting.

A door to grief.

To absence.

To the quiet reality that even our greatest moments can awaken the deepest losses we’ve carried.

That experience inspired me to write one of the most personal things I’ve ever shared.

For the first time, I’m telling the full story behind the grief, addiction, recovery, and redemption that shaped not only my current life, but also every piece of art I create.

California dreamin…

Sometimes I wake up and I can almost taste the air from the ranch.

I miss it.

I miss my horses. I miss Rusty. I miss the smell of the barns and the fields. I miss those quiet early mornings walking out to let these guys into the arena before the day even began. Believe it or not, I even miss cleaning their stalls. There was something grounding about all of it.

Life there was peaceful in a way that’s hard to find. No traffic. No constant noise. Just the wind, the horses, and room to breathe.

Right before I moved to St. Louis, I spent eight months living on the ranch. During that time, I completely stepped away from all electronics. I figured if I was going to immerse myself in that kind of peace, I wanted to do it all the way. Looking back, it was exactly what I needed.

I was carrying a tremendous amount of grief and trying to make sense of everything life had thrown at me. The ranch became a place where I could simply exist, heal, and listen to the silence.

I love where my journey has taken me since then, but there are mornings when I still close my eyes and, for just a moment, I can taste that air again.

Some places never really leave you.

Some places become more than where you live. They become part of who you are.

This Loft has been my sanctuary. It’s where songs found their melodies, where blank canvases became my Symbolic Pop Art Expressionism, where books were written, performances were brought to life, friends gathered, and dreams that once felt impossible slowly became real.

Every painting on these walls, every note sung into this microphone, every time I sat in my director’s chair, and every late night spent creating carries a memory I’ll always keep within my heart.

When this chapter closes, I’ll miss these brick walls, this light, and the energy that somehow always invited me to create. But I’ve learned something important over these past few years…

The creativity was never in the room alone.

It was always within me.

And wherever I go next, I’ll build another haven of creativity.

Before that day comes, there will be one last gathering here at the loft. Rocco Pink is a multidisciplinary contemporary artist, author, recording artist, CPT, and mindfulness consultant whose work explores identity, authenticity, resilience, and transformation across art, music, fashion, and writing.

As a contemporary artist, Rocco is known for his signature Symbolic Pop Art Expressionism and acclaimed series GLARE: Shades of Fame and PINK REQUIEM: A Body of Grief. His work has been exhibited throughout the St. Louis region, earning an Award of Excellence. In 2026, THE KING — Elvis Presley was accepted into the Graceland Archives permanent collection, and his artwork THE STL PINEAPPLE was selected for auction at the Tennessee Williams Festival St. Louis fundraiser.

His creative work extends into music, with releases including “We Won’t Bow Down,” a protest anthem praised by OUT IN STL Magazine, and “Let Me Be,” marking his first official music video release.

In 2024, after years of struggling with addiction, Rocco entered the Betty Ford Center—a 96-day experience that became a profound turning point in his life. That journey transformed his relationship with himself, his creativity, and his future, becoming a powerful chapter in his story of resilience and renewal. In September 2026, he has been invited back to the desert campus as a featured guest speaker, where he will share his story of recovery and transformation.
